What is the Army Cadet Force?
The ACF is funded by the Ministry of Defence, it is not the recruiting arm of the Army. However, all Cadets train toward the Army Cadet Force Syllabus, which has many of the Army's skills embedded. Cadets are trained in many other activities and learn many skills which would never become available in the usual "Youth Club" environment.
When and Where
At present the Ashby detachment meets on 2 evenings a week.

Monday Nights 6.45 - 9.00 p.m

Wednesday Nights 6.45 - 9.00 p.m

There is a NAAFI (tuck shop) available, which is far cheaper than the shops!!

The detachment is located at:

ACF Hut,
Ashby High Street,
Ashby,
Scunthorpe,
DN16 2ND.

(Behind the petrol station across the road from the wesleyan church.

We also attend 'Training Weekends' with other detachments in our company. These usually start on a Friday (6.00 pm) and last through until Sunday (3.00 pm) , you will be picked up and dropped off at the detachment.

Each year we attend our 'Annual Camp'. This lasts for 2 weeks during your Summer holidays and takes place on an Army Camp somewhere in this country, the venue changes each year. Here we are joined by cadets from all three companies within Humberside and South Yorkshire. It's not just all hard work, there's plenty of time to relax with a day out and evening discos (all this on top of all the army barmy stuff - what more could you want!!).
